Golden Bears take second at Trailblazer Invite



TRAVELERS REST, S.C. -- Miles had an impressive showing that the Trailblazer Spring Invitational this week, battling through the final holes before earning an impressive second-place finish in the nine-team event at Cherokee Valley Country Club.

The Golden Bears shot 299 in the opening round and was eight strokes behind eventual winner Belmont Abbey, with host North Greenville between the two schools. But Miles came out hot to start the second round. Adrian Raya, Braydon Moye and Jerris Baker each carded multiple birdies over their first nine holes to shoot the Golden Bears within four shots of the lead. 

Jeremiah Bianchi helped keep Miles close with the best round of the day, carding two eagles and four birdies to shoot 2-under 70 in the final round. He finished tied for 10th with Moye (who had four birdies and finished 1-under 71 for the round) at 5-over 149. While the Golden Bears 291 on the final day tied for the best team round of the tourney, it was only enough to bypass North Greenville and finish four strokes behind Belmont Abbey.

George Aguilera, who played as an individual and did not count towards the team score, had the best individual effort for Miles. Entering the second round just one shot off the lead, he posted a 1-over 73 in the final round to finish at 145 (+1), tied for second behind eventual medalist Nolan Witham of North Greenville.

The Golden Bears are back in action next week as they travel to Nashville to compete in the Trevecca Music City Invitational.
