Samarian Franklin D2CCA honor 2026

Franklin snags another postseason honor

Miles point guard Samarian Franklin has added another postseason honor to her already impressive haul.

Franklin, a freshman from Brimingham, Ala., was chosen to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-South Region Second Team. She is the only member from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to be named to the squad - which features two teams. The honorees were selected by votes of sports information directors and media relations professionals from the three South Region conferences, the SIAC, the Gulf South Conference and the Sunshine State Conference.

It was a banner first season for Franklin, who averaged 12.4 points, 5.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 31 games - all starts. She was named First Team All-SIAC, SIAC Freshman of the Year, SIAC All-Freshman Team, and Most Valuable Player of the SIAC Tournament as she helped lead the Lady Bears to a third straight conference title and NCAA Division II Tournament berth. She led the Lady Bears in scoring and is 10th in Division II in assists, and is the top freshman in that category.
