HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The freshman trio of Karea Copeland, Jaida Lloyd, and Kori Brown had big nights as Miles (1-0) opened the season with a four-set victory over Oakwood (3-2) on Thursday.

Copeland (match-high 14 kills, 14 digs) and Lloyd (match-highs in assist (35) and service aces (4), along with 10 digs) both posted double-doubles while Brown (8-2-16, .375 in two sets) was huge in the final set as the Lady Bears won going away.

Miles did not hit the ball particularly well over the first three sets (.036) but led 2-1 after the Lady Ambassadors made multiple errors of their own down the stretch in the third game. The Lady Bears would turn it on in the final game, hitting .344 as Brown had six kills and two service aces while Copeland added four kills of her own to help close out the match.

The Lady Bears are back in action on Saturday when they travel to face Alabama A&M. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m.
