Nayla Wesley was named Player of the Week by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for her performance over the past week.
Wesley, a freshman from Birmingham, Ala., shot 53 percent from the field while she averaged 11.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks in 23.5 minutes per game over two Lady Bears victories. In her best performance, a home win over Central State, Wesley scored 11 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished four assists, blocked four shots and added three steals. In her next contest, a road win at LeMoyne-Owen, she scored 12 points and pulled down six rebounds.Â
In each game this season, Wesley has scored more points in each successive contest. Over five games, all as a starter, she is shooting 54 percent from the field while averaging 7.2 points and a team-high 5.3 rebounds. She will return to action on Dec. 6 when the Lady Bears travel to face Shorter.
