Mya Millner was a perfect 7-of-7 from the field and scored a game-high 18 points and Miles defeated Fort Valley State 91-40 Saturday afternoon at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
Miles raced out to an 8-1 lead and never trailed. A 3-pointer by
Jalyn Shelby (11 points)Â gave the Lady Bears a 14-3 lead less than six minutes into the game. three free throws by
Shannon Niles (13 points) gave Miles a 21-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and the Lady Wildcats would never have less than a double-digit deficit the remainder of the game.
The Lady Bears shot 51 percent from the field while holding FVSU to 25 percent from the floor. Every Miles player that dressed played at least 10 minutes and all of them scored at least one point. The team forced 46 turnovers, had 32 steals, and scored 47 points off of the Lady Wildcats turnovers.
Reya Johnson has 12 points and Aaniyah Allen added 11 to lead Fort Valley State.
Nayla Wesley (10 points, six rebounds, two blocks, three steals),
Samarian Franklin (five points, seven assists, six steals) and
Keyarria Stokes (eight points, 4-of-4 shooting) were among the stars for the Lady Bears, who host Central State on Tuesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
