Copeland doubles up on weekly awards for second time



For the second time this season, Miles outside hitter Karea Copeland has won two weekly awards from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Copeland, a freshman from Newnan, Ga., was named Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Week by the SIAC. She also earned both honors two weeks ago. This past week, she shined for the Lady Bears. Copeland hit .261 over five matches, averaging 14.2 kills per match and 3.94 kills per set. She finished with 71 kills, 35 digs and nine service aces. She posted a double-double (19 kills, 11 digs) against Central State, had 21 kills and hit .354 against Lane and hit .464 (14-1-28) against LeMoyne-Owen. 

Currently, Copeland is second in the SIAC in kills (202), kills per set (3.74) and total points (4.19). She, along with the rest of the Lady Bears, are back in action tonight when they host Stillman. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
