The Miles Lady Bears collected more weekly plaudits from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference this week as outside hitter
Karea Copeland was named Newcomer of the Week while utility player
Kayla Trawick was selected as Defensive Player of the Week.
Copeland, a freshman from Newnan, Ga., earned her third Newcomer of the week award after she hit .251 with 69 kills, 49 digs, eight service aces and two blocks in 19 sets as Miles went 3-2 last week. She posted double-doubles against Kentucky State (14 kills, 12 digs), LeMoyne-Owen (17 kills, 10 digs) and Lane (23 kills, 11 digs).

Trawick, a junior from Montgomery, Ala., has played all over but has served as a Defensive Specialist and libero for the past two weeks. She responded with strong results last week, finishing with 84 digs in five matches, along with four kills, seven assists, and nine service aces. She had a season-high 23 digs in the match against Kentucky State and hit double-digit digs in all four matches of the SIAC Western Cluster at LeMoyne-Owen.
The Lady Bears are back in action tonight as they host West Alabama. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
