Miles played very well to start its match against Talladega but could not sustain that energy in front of a raucous crowd Monday night. The Lady Tornadoes (13-6) took down the Lady Bears (0-9) in four sets (24-26, 25-15, 25-20, 25-9) at Knox-Windham Gymnasium, winning their third straight in the series.

The Lady Bears took a lead early in a nip-and-tuck first set before Talladega moved ahead late. Facing a set point, though, Miles rallied. Kendall Townsend's kill tied the score at 24 before two straight errors propelled the Lady Bears to the opening-set win. Miles hit .231 in the first set and took advantage of 10 Talladega errors to grab the early advantage.

The second set saw the Lady Bears still on the hunt, leading 10-9 before things went awry. The Lady Tornadoes would score six straight points to take the lead for good. Miles would get to within 16-14 but Talladega dominated the rest of the set, its endgame run only interrupted by a Kayla Trawick kill.

Miles surrendered the first five points of the third set and was not able to recover. The Lady Bears played well thereafter, committing just three attack errors and hitting .265 (12-3-34). A kill by Townsend and a combo block by Trawick  (nine kills, 13 digs, two blocks) and Jaydn McGhee (three kills) brought the score to 22-19. But Talladega closed out the third set and dominated the final set to earn the win.

Miles received solid efforts from Townsend (7-2-19, .263), Saraih Taylor (20 assists, eight digs), Eliyah McIlwain (16 digs), Aaliyah Sanders (15 digs), and Lailah Hester (seven kills, three blocks). The Lady Bears are back in action this weekend when they travel to Mobile for the SIAC West Cluster hosted by Spring Hill.
