Miles has big Monday showdown at Kentucky State

Miles closes out its two-game northern road swing with a trip to Frankfort to battle Kentucky State. While the streaking Golden Bears look to maintain its edge in the SIAC Western Division against the struggling Thorobreds, the women's matchup features the best two teams – and arguably the best two players – in the conference who will put their unblemished league records on the line.

The Lady Bears (13-1, 9-0 SIAC) are ranked No. 23 in the WBCA poll from last week and look to move up after sweeping a pair of contests against LeMoyne-Owen and Central State. Those wins pushed the team's school-record win streak to 13 games. Iemyiah Harris averaged 24 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.5 steals during the week, including a 30-point performance against CSU in a come-from-behind victory. Madison Lee, who returned after missing time with an injury, put up 12.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists over the same stretch, using an 18-point effort in the win over the Lady Magicians to lead the charge.

The Thorobrettes (13-2, 9-0) have been on their own roll, having won four straight. Two of those wins, though, have come in the final seconds. Still, they feature the SIAC's leading scorer in Gracen Kerr and are the top scoring and shooting team in the SIAC. Miles will look to counter as the conference's top defensive and rebounding squad.

On the men's side, the Golden Bears (12-3, 7-2) have continued to efficiently string together victories and currently have won six straight. Corey Trotter has been a model of that over the past week, making 7-of-10 shots from the field in each of the past two games, where he's averaged 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots. Mykayle Carter has also continued to stretch defenses, where he is shooting 52 percent on 3-pointers (12-of-23) over the last three contests, averaging just under 19 points per game during that stretch.

After a strong run to the SIAC Tournament semifinals last season, the Thorobreds (4-10, 1-9) have struggled during this campaign. KSU runs an up-tempo offense but has been unable to get stops on the defensive end, where it has allowed a league-worse 80.9 points per game. Still, Miles has had its troubles playing this team on the road. The Golden Bears have dropped 9-of-11 at the Exum Center, including a buzzer-beating victory in overtime last year.

The action kicks off at 4:30 p.m. CT with the Lady Bears. The Golden Bears will start at approximately 6:30 p.m. CT. To keep up with all the action, click here (WBB) and here (MBB).
