The Golden Bears cruises to another blowout victory, defeating the Marauders of Central State in impressive fashion. The Golden Bears scored on their second offensive possession of the game when Edwin Kleinpeter Jr. completed a 17-yard pass to
Geordon Pollard for the score. The second quarter would see the Golden Bears score 19 points to essentially put the game away. The Golden Bears capped off a 63-yard drive on a Kleinpeter rushing touchdown, putting the Golden Bears up 14-0. The Golden Bears next possession would see their explosive offense score on a 2 play drive that ended with a 55-yard touchdown pass to
Jaquel Fells, followed by a Kleinpeter to Pollard touchdown pass to go into the half with a 26-0 lead after consecutive extra point attempts failed.
The second half would see the Golden Bears continue their dominant performance with two more scores. Kleinpeter connected with
Josh Ruff for a touchdown before being shut down for the day.
Kamren Ivory came in for Klienpeter and took the Golden Bears down the field on an impressive drive of his own that culminated in a 39-yard touchdown pass to
Jaylin Peterson for the Golden Bears final score of the day.
Geordon Pollard finished the game with six receptions for 58 yards and two touchdowns.
Jaquel Fells led the way with 91 receiving yards on four catches and a touchdown.
Brandon Hicks led the ground attack with 72 yards on 13 carries. Defensively,
Chris Ware dominated with eight solo tackles while
Graderius Brown and Jeffery Scott both had an interception.
With this win, the Golden Bears improve to 4-1 on the season and 3-0 in conference play. They are back in action Saturday in a highly anticipated match up when they take on the defending SIAC champions, Benedict College who are currently undefeated at 5-0 on the season.
