ATLANTA --
Iemyiah Harris broke out of a mini-slump in a big way, draining four fourth-quarter 3-pointers to lead Miles to a 55-52 win over Clark Atlanta on Thursday night at Epps Gym.
Harris, the Lady Bears leading scorer, had averaged just 10 points a game over Miles'Â last four games. But she had the hot hand in the final period to push the team to a big road win. Down by a single point early in the fourth, she hit a 3-ball on the break to put the Lady Bears back in front. The Panthers had retaken a two-point lead midway through the quarter but a second triple gave Miles a 47-46 advantage with 4:55 remaining.
CAU would score on its next possession to jump back in front but Harris - still hot - let another moneyball fly and drained it as well, putting the Lady Bears back on top 50-48. Miles still held a two-point cushion just inside of two minutes in the game when Harris stroked her fourth 3-ball of the quarter and sixth of the game that gave the Lady Bears a 55-50 lead with 1:54 to go. The Lady Panthers made a final push and had an opportunity to force overtime but Janiyah Ellis' 3-pointer was long, giving Miles it sixth straight win over Clark Atlanta.
Denise Stine had 17 points and Corianna Evans had 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead Clark Atlanta. Harris had a game-high 18 points while the Lady Bears also got solid performances from
Eunique McKinney (nine points, seven rebounds),
Kelli Finkley (nine points, three rebounds),
Dereseia Randle (four points, 10 rebounds) and
Imani Williams (six points, 10 rebounds, two blocked shots).
The Lady Bears are back in action on Feb 18 for Senior Day when they host Lane. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
