Lady Bears Fall in Season Opener

Columbus, GA | The Lady Bears fell to the Cougars of Columbus State in their road opener, 81-73  

The Cougars opened the game by outscoring the Lady Bears 13-6 midway through the 1st quarter before the Lady Bears fought back to take the lead with 2:15 remaining in the quarter.  The Cougars would close the first quarter with a run of their own for a 20-16 1st quarter.  The second quarter was much of the same as the Lady Bears were outscored 16-9 to go into the half down 36-25.

The Cougars would lead by as many as 23 in the 3rd quarter before the lady Bears began to chip away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Cougars 23-12 but it was not enough and the Cougars went on for the  81-73 victory.
 
Madison Lee led the charge with 13 points and 11 rebounds including eight offensive rebounds.  Feliah Greer led the Lady Bears in scoring with 18 points while adding six rebounds.  Imani Williams scored in double-digits with 11 points and Tederia Ashley contributed eight big rebounds off the bench.

The Lady Bears will be back this weekend when they host the SIAC East/West Challenge. Friday, the Lady Bears will take on the Tigers of Benedict College at 6:00 p.m. and the Tigers of Edward Waters on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
