Macon, GA — Members from both the Miles College men and women's cross-country teams were awarded the Elite 14 by the SIAC. The Elite 14 award recognizes those student-athletes who have reached the pinnacle of competition at the SIAC championship level in his or her sport while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.Â
For the men, seniorÂ
Mykayle Carter (Lauderhill, FL) took home the prestigious honor for the second year in a row, while sophomoreÂ
Madison Lee (Statesboro, GA) was the recipient for the women. Mykayle and Madison are both shining examples of the hard work and dedication Miles College student athletes put forth both in the classroom and with their respective sports.Â
In the women's SIAC Championship 5K, the Miles College Lady Bears finished in 8
th place with a team score of 217. Two runners had personal best for the Lady Bears. SophomoreÂ
Alexia Turner (Powder Springs, GA)
, the reigning SIAC runner of the week from week 7, finished the course in 23.59.1. Her 18
th place finish was an improvement from the 23
rd place finish from the previous year. JuniorÂ
Iemyiah Harris (Anniston, AL), also had an impressive run, finishing 22
nd with a time of 24:36.8.Â
For the men's SIAC Championship 8K, newcomer and 2022-2023 Mister Miles College, Konner Price, was the top finisher for the Golden Bears. He crossed the finish line at 34:53.5, placing 43
rd.Â
Next up for the Miles College runners is indoor track competition which will begin in December.Â
