Copen and Holcomb 2021

Two Miles golfers earn academic All-America honor

Two Miles golfers, junior Christian Copen and senior Chandler Holcomb, were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for NCAA Divisions II, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Copen and Holcomb were the only members of a HBCU to make the Division II list. To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically, they must participate in 40 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university. This past season, over 17 rounds, Holcomb averaged a 76.0 while Copen averaged 77.06 per round.

Additionally, Miles was one of 13 Division II schools to earn the GCAA's President Special Recognition for achieving a team grade point average of at least a 3.5. Among HBCU's, the Golden Bears were tops among schools in the SIAC and second behind Virginia Union.
