For the second straight contest, Miles put together a dominant effort in defeating Southeastern Baptist 94-49 Saturday evening at Knox-Windham Gymnasium. The 45-point win matches the margin of victory the Golden Bears (3-0) posted Wednesday night against Edward Waters.
Southeastern Baptist (0-13) played Miles even through the first five points but never led. The Golden Bears then scored seven straight points to take the lead for good. A layup by
Anthony Fairley less than six minutes into the game pushed the Miles lead to double-digits and the Chargers never got any closer.Miles did nearly everything right in the first 20 minutes, shooting 62.5 percent from the field, forcing 18 SBC turnovers and opening a lead as large as 31 points before going into the half ahead 49-22.
Josh Hill (seven points) and
Joel Logan (eight points) fueled a 13-1 start to the second half that put even more space between the teams. When
Chase Ballard (eight points, four assists) fed an alley-oop to Fairley (nine points, four rebounds) for a dunk with 15:18 remaining, Miles led 64-24. A bucket by
Elijah Horton with just more thn three minutes left gave the Golden Bears a 46-point advantage, their largest of the game.
Brannon Singletary scored a team-high 13 points to lead Southeastern Baptist. Among the top performers for Miles includedÂ
