TUSKEGEE, Ala. -- For the second time in three nights, Miles played well enough to notch its first win of the season. But Tuskegee found a way to battle back from two set points in earning a sweep over the Lady Bears (25-20, 28-26, 27-25) at Chappie James Arena Wednesday night.

La'Promise Boone led Miles (0-7, 0-5 SIAC) in kills (7) and assists (10) and Tuskegee (2-7, 2-3) helped by committing 34 attack errors, 26 of them coming in the final two sets. The Lady Bears led 20-19 in the first set before the Golden Tigers scored the final six points to steal the set.

Miles took a 10-9 lead in Set 2 and continued to hold the lead as the Tuskegee errors continued to mount. While the score remained close, Boone served with Miles leading 24-23 and had a chance to knot the match. The Golden Tigers, though, fought back and put Miles on its heels. But facing their own set point, the Lady Bears would get a kill from Briana Brown (12 digs, 3 kills, 3 blocks) to tie the score at 26. But on the next point, a disputed call gave TU the lead for good and a service ace from Jayla Garrett put Miles in a two-set hole.

The third set saw Miles fall behind as many as six points. But facing multiple match points, the Lady Bears fought back. A kill by Maiya Northard (3-0-10, .300) was the last of five straight points that gave the Lady Bears a 25-24 advantage. But, again, serving for the set, Miles could not close the door. Three straight kills - the last two by Crystal Moore - finished the sweep for Tuskegee.

Julia Whittaker (team-high 17 digs, 4 kills, 2 blocks), D'Nautica Johnson (10 digs) and Tatiyana Thomas (8 digs, 7 assists, 4 blocks) starred for Miles, which is back in action on Saturday when it hosts LeMoyne-Owen. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
