HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Miles earned its first win of the 2019 softball campaign with a 4-3 win over Lincoln (Mo.) at the Charger Chillout.
Zakierra Webb and
Nala Moore each had two hits and
Magen Rich allowed just two earned runs in the complete-game win.
Miles (1-8) took the lead in the third when Moore singled, stole second and third, then scored on a
Davis Watkins sacrifice fly. But Lincoln (0-6) got a two-run single from Mykenzie Livesay as part of a 3-run fourth to put the Tigers in front. The Lady Bears, though, would begin to mount their comeback in the bottom of the frame.
Alexus Gonzalez tripled to lead off the inning and she would score in a sacrifice bunt by
Kendal Burrell to trim the deficit to a single run. The big hit came the next inning. Moore and Watkins each singled with one out and move up an extra base on an error. Webb then singled to score the baserunners to put Miles back in front. Rich (1-4) would give up singles in the sixth and seventh but neither runner made it into scoring position as the Lady Bears held on.
