AUGUSTA, Ga. --
Avery Brown continued his scorching start, pouring in 27 points for Miles in a 70-62 win over Paine Monday night at the HEAL Complex.
The Golden Bears (6-1, 2-0 SIAC West) took the lead late in the first half and never trailed again, coming up with answers for each spurt made by the Lions (0-4, 0-2 SIACÂ East) on both ends of the floor. Miles was able to slowly pull away late, leading by as many as 11 points in the final minutes to earn a sixth straight win over Paine.
On the offensive side, it was Brown leading the way over the final 20 minutes, making 7-of-10 shots from the field, including all three 3-pointers, to score 22 of Miles' 40 second half points. His 3-ball at the 15:17 mark of the second half broke a 34-all tie and the Golden Bears would not trail again. Over his last three games, he is averaging nearly 23 points per game while shooting almost 61 percent from the field.
Paine continued to battle and was down by only five points but Brown nailed another 3-pointer to drive the Miles advantage to 58-50 with 5:22 remaining. A 3-pointer by
Terrell Waiters (5 points, 3 rebounds), the last of seven by the Golden Bears, pushed the lead into double figures, 64-54, for the first time with 2:11 left.

Jelani Watson-Gayle had 17 points and
