Miles opened the home portion of its schedule Thursday night with a straight set loss to Talladega College at Knox-Windham Gymnasium. The Lady Bears (2-6) have now lost four straight matches overall after splitting the first four matches of the season.
The Tornadoes (7-6) were more active and more successful on the attack in each set, jumping out to quick leads that the Lady Bears could not overcome. Talladega hit .316 and had 39 kills while Miles only hit .030 with 20 kills.
Reanna Burroughs (13-6-20, .350) was the top hitter for the Tornadoes with Bethany Holland (27 assists) doing the setting and Brandi Canady (17 digs) playing strong defense, For Miles,
Raiana Johnson hit .385 with five kills, two aces and three blocks. Brianna Brown and
Shatesa Harris each had three kills,
Tatiyana Thomas had 16 assists and
D'Nautica Johnson finished with two kills, an ace and 14 digs for the Lady Bears, who are in action again next week at the SIAC Crossover in Albany, Ga.
