FLORENCE, Ala. -- Miles's schedule has been loaded with top teams thus far this season and the results for the young team continue to show the degree of difficulty.
North Alabama, the No. 11 team in Division II, swept the Lady Bears in two run-rule contests, winning 14-0 and 13-1, at the UNA Softball Complex Tuesday afternoon. Miles (0-18) had just three hits on the afternoon while the Lions (17-2) hit five home runs in the two games, three in one inning.
Magen Rich (0-10) took the loss in the opener while
Kendruena McPherson (0-6) was the losing pitcher in the nightcap.
Ombreyah Daly had the only hit in the opener, a single in the fourth inning. Miles twice got runners in scoring position in Game 1 but were unable to get any of them to score. In Game 2,
Kristie Looney got the Lady Bears first ht, a single, in the third inning. In the fourth,
Jazzmyn Shelton led off with a single, and on a sacrifice bunt, advanced to third. One out later,
Zakierra Webb reached on a error by the pitcher, allowing Shelton to score the lone Miles run.
Miles opens conference play Saturday when it hosts LeMoyne-Owen. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
