ATLANTA -- Miles' shooting struggles have not been a secret, at times, this season. But Wednesday night against Clark Atlanta, it hit a new low.
The Lady Bears shot a season-low 23 percent from the field and no one scored more than six points in a 61-45, non-conference loss at Epps Gymnasium. A 15-0 run in the first quarter gave the Lady Panthers (16-7) all the cushion they would need as Miles (8-15) lost its second straight.
Victoria Sutton hit a 3-pointer to end the first quarter to stop the big CAU run, and
Taylor Terry scored the opening points of the second quarter to cut the Miles deficit to 17-8. But that was the final time that the Lady Bears trailed by single digits. Miles shot under 16 percent in the first half as the Lady Panthers led 31-17 at halftime and saw that lead swell as large as 23 points in the third quarter.
Terry and
Darika Chelsey each had six points and
Amoni Walker added five points for Miles, which hosts Kentucky State on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
