Albany State rushed for 353 yards and got 184 yards rushing and three touchdowns from running back McKinley Habersham as Albany State ended Miles' two-game win streak with a 34-9 win Saturday night at Sloan-Alumni Stadium.
Miles (2-3, 1-1 SIAC) got 105 yards rushing from freshman quarterback
Sidney Wilson - who was making his first career start - and
Nick Christiansen booted three field goals, the longest from 52 yards, to account for all of the scoring.
Austin Stephens had 17 tackles (12 solo) and
Anthony Hardy added 11 (seven solo) to pace the defense.
The Golden Rams (3-2, 2-0) took control early, marching 95 yards in just six plays on their first drive of the game to take a 7-0 lead. They followed with scoring drives of 75 and 85 yards, then grabbed one of two interceptions Wilson threw in Golden Bears territory and went 11 yards on their final drive of the first half to take a 27-6 lead into halftime.
Miles appeared to have scored a touchdown late in the third quarter when Wilson found
Leonard Tyree on a 23-yard toss. Tyree got a foot down in the end zone but the official ruled it an incomplete pass and the Golden Bears settled for a 40-yard field goal from Christiansen for the final points of the game.
The Golden Bears are back in action next week when they travel to Central State. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
