Miles repeats feat against Lane
Box Score
JACKSON, Tenn. - For the second time in 11 days, Miles was able to earn a victory over Lane.Â
But Monday night's 67-62 win over the Lady Dragons (6-12, 5-4 SIAC) meant a lot more. This win came on the road and counted as a big SIAC victory for the Lady Bears. Miles (8-9, 3-3) is also back to .500 in conference play after winning its second straight contest.Â
Ashley McCrear had a team-high 13 points and added nine rebounds to pace the Lady Bears, who again used a big second quarter to take the lead and held on late as Lane was never quite able to get over the hump.Â
Miles trailed by 10 early in the second quarter but an 11-1 run helped the Lady Bears tie the game. A 3-point play by
Taylor Terry gave Miles a 32-29 lead and the team would not trail the rest of the game. A 24-10 advantage in the second quarter, though, could not be sustained as Miles missed 12 of its first 13 shots in the third quarter. But when
Alexis Jones drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer, the Lady Bears still led 48-44 going into the final 10 minutes.
Lane had cut the Miles deficit to one point early in the fourth quarter but an 8-0 run gave the Lady Bears a 57-48 lead. The Lady Dragons would not get any closer than four points the rest of the way.
Tashara Jones scored a game-high 20 points to pace the Lady Dragons. Jones and
Larian Scott each had 12 points,
Ashley Steger had nine points and four assists, and
Morgan Hardy had six points and a game-high 12 rebounds for Miles, which hosts Spring Hill Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
