FRANKFORT, Ky. --  Six players scored in double figures but Miles gave up 54 points in the second half of a 96-89 loss to Kentucky State Monday night at Exum Center.

Shaquille Cook had 16 points and seven rebounds while Joshua Johnson and Sheldon Wright each scored 13 points for the Golden Bears (0-15, 0-4 SIAC). But the Thorobreds (6-10, 5-4) shot 52 percent from the field in the second half and went 21-of-27 from the free throw line to send Miles to another conference loss.

Miles led by as many as nine points in the first half and went into the break with a 48-42 lead as it shot 54 percent from the field. But the Golden Bears could not slow point guard Dorian Jordan (21 points, 10 assists, six steals) or the hot shooting of Malcolm Smith (33 points, 6-of-10 3-pointers). Still, Miles was within three points late before Reggie Breeden knocked down his own 3-pointer to make it a two-possession game with less than a minute to go.

Breeden (17 points) and Barton (13 points) scored in double figures for KSU. Miles, which plays at LeMoyne-Owen Saturday at 7:30 p.m., got contributions from Carl Garcia (11 points, five rebounds), Joshua Samuels (11 points) and Aron Stewart (10 points).
