Women hold on against Stillman
Box Score Torborsha Holley scored 18 points and
Shaquinta Sales scored 12 points and grabbed a season-high 18 rebounds as Miles held off a late charge from Stillman in securing a 70-64 win Thursday night at a packed Knox-Windham Gymnasium. The win was the second straight for the Lady Golden Bears (12-10, 7-6 SIAC) and helps keep them in second place in the SIAC Western Division.
The two rivals played a hotly-contested battle and Miles did all it could to show its superiority. But with 4:50 left, the game was tied at 57 and Stillman's pressure defense was causing the Lady Bears a lot of difficulty. But Holley drained a 3-pointer on Miles' next possession to take the lead for good and the Tigers wilted down the stretch.
The Lady Bears opened a seven-point lead early in the second quarter but Stillman (7-11, 4-7) took the lead late. Still, Miles outscored the Tigers 10-6 down the stretch to take a 37-34 lead into the half.
Victoria Douglas scored 17 points to lead Stillman.

Larian Scott each scored 13 points for Miles, which hosts Albany State on Thursday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
