Miles opened conference play with a doubleheader sweep of LeMoyne-Owen, earning 12-4 and 14-0 victories over the Magicians, both in five innings. Kathryne Lambert had five hits and seven runs batted in, Khandi White-Tolbert had three hits and five RBI, and Brea Reese allowed just one hit in a five-inning shutout as the Golden Bears (2-15, 2-0 SIAC) earned their first two wins of the season.

Miles 12, LeMoyne-Owen 4 (five innings)

Kendreuna McPhereson, Jordan Jones and Jasmine Langston each had two RBI as the Golden Bears posted crooked numbers in four of the five innings to get their first win of the season. Miles scored three times in the first inning, each run coming on a bases loaded walk. After the Magicians (0-2, 0-2) posted a run in the second inning, Miles answered with three more, two coming on RBI from McPherson and Lambert, to give the team a 6-1 advantage.

Talana Brown ran into a little trouble in the fourth, surrendering three runs to bring LOC to within 6-4. But Jones and Langston knocked in runs in the fourth and Miles wrapped it up in the fifth when White-Tolbert knocked in Jamellya Ducker and an error led to Jones scampering across the plate to seal the victory. Brown went the distance, allowing nine hits and three earned runs while striking out three.

Miles 14, LeMoyne-Owen 0 (five innings)

The Golden Bears took complete control of this ball game early, scoring six times in the first inning. Lambert started the fun with a 2-run single and the frame was punctuated with a grand slam from White-Tolbert. Lambert continued her assault in the second with a 3-run blast - her second dinger of the season - to push the Miles advantage to 9-0. She went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and six RBI in the nightcap.

Miles added four more runs in the fourth. Lambert and Ducker each had run-scoring singles and Ashlee Alexander added a 2-run single to cap the scoring. The offense made things easy for Reese but she needed little help. She allowed a single to the first hitter of the game, then did not allow another. She walked two, hit one batter, and struck out three to earn her first win of the season.
