TUSKEGEE, Ala. -- With a defense that put the clamps on Tuskegee and big performances from Morgan Hardy and Shaquinta Sales, Miles snapped its two-game losing streak with a 51-32 win over the Golden Tigerettes Monday night.

Hardy (11 points, 13 rebounds) and Sales (10 points, 12 rebounds) each had double-doubles for Miles (11-10, 6-6 SIAC), which held Tuskegee (3-15, 2-8) to less than 19 percent shooting from the field and in single-digit scoring in three of the four quarters. The Golden Tigerettes had just five points in the final period and did not score a point over the last 5:43 of the game.

Miles took advantage on the offensive glass, scoring 16 points on 18 offensive rebounds. Tuskegee was not as fortunate, earning just two second chance points on 19 offensive boards. The Lady Golden Bears also took advantage of a sloppy TU team, scoring 16 points off 19 turnovers. More than anything, though, Tuskegee could not put the ball in the basket.

With the game tied at 13 early in the second quarter, Miles used a 14-3 run to close out the frame and go into the half with a 27-16 lead. During that run, Tuskegee went 1-for-9 from the field, missing everything from point-blank layups to long 3-pointers that let the Lady Golden Bears corral rebounds and go on the offensive. Miles led by as many as 22 points in the fourth quarter as the reserves closed out the contest.

Rachel Brownlee had 14 points and nine rebounds to lead Tuskegee. Torborsha Holley had nine points and Ashley Steger added seven for Miles, which hosts Stillman Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
