FORT VALLEY, Ga. -- It has been almost two months since Miles alternated wins and losses in consecutive games. Unfortunately, the streaky Lady Golden Bears could not change that trend Saturday afternoon at Fort Valley State.

Shooting a dismal 28 percent from the floor and - maybe even more worrisome 40 percent from the free throw line - Miles provided little opposition in a 71-55 loss to the Lady Wildcats. The Lady Golden Bears (10-10, 5-6 SIAC) did not have anyone score in double figures in losing their second straight contest. Tierra Williams and Rickeytha Davis each had nine points to lead Miles while four players scored in double figures for FVSU (7-14, 6-6), led by Daknequa White's 15.

Miles never lead in the game. On a couple of occassions in the first half, the Lady Golden Bears would cut the deficit to a single point but the Lady Wildcats always seemed to have the answer and went into the half with a 31-23 lead. Miles did not help itself at all at the free throw line, missing 12-of-14 freebies, while also turning the bal over 18 times, which led to 11 points for Fort Valley.

The game fell out of reach in the third quarter. FVSU closed the period on a 15-3 run that effectively put the game out of reach. A 3-pointer by Raynesha Clay gave the Lady Wildcats a 56-35 lead at the end of the quarter. Miles would trail by as many as 23 in the fourth quarter and never got any closer than 14 points.

Katice Williams had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Fort Valley State while Morgan Hardy added eight points and nine rebounds for Miles, which travels to Tuskegee Monday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
