Box Score ALBANY, GA -- In a rematch of the 2013 SIAC Football Championship the Golden Bears fell to the Golden Rams of Albany State University, 14-7, in the SIAC opener for both teams Saturday evening in Albany, Georgia.

MC falls to (1-3, 0-1 SIAC) while ASU improves to (1-2, 1-0 SIAC).

Albany State got on the board first as they used a nine play, 63 yard drive capped by a two-yard TD run by senior quarterback and SIAC pre-season offensive player of the year, Frank Rivers, give the Golden Rams an early 7-0 lead.

In the second quarter ASU would extend the lead to 14-0 as Fred Holton scooped up a Golden Bear fumble inside the five yardline and returned it 97 yards for the score.

On the ensuing possession Miles College drove 65 yards on 12-plays to cut the lead to 14-7 when senior quarterback, Demetic Price, found senior wide-reciever, Antonio Pitts, for the third time in four weeks on a touchdown strike from nine yards out.

The score remained the same the rest of the way as both defenses had stellar performances and held eachothers offenses in check for the entire second half.

Miles College finished with a slight lead in total yards 288-285 (172 Passing/142 Rushing) but lost the turnover battle fumbling twice deep in Albany State territory.

Defensively junior linebacker, Rodrick Holloman, ended the day with a team-high eight tackles (3 solo) and an interception for a return of 12 yards. Braysean Jones addes to his team-leading sack total as he finished with one sack.

Offensively the Golden Bears were led by sophomore runningback, Jonathan Clark, who finished with a team-high 41 yards rushing while Price only completed 10-of-23 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown against a tough Golden Ram defense.

The Golden Bears return to action this Thursday evening, October 2nd, as they host the Benedict College Tigers at 7 p.m. CT in the friendly confines of Albert J. Sloan-Alumni Stadium on the campus of Miles College. The game has been slated as the NCAA DII National Game of the Week and will be broadcasted live on CBS Sports Network. Ron Pitts will handle the play-by-play duties while former Nebraska quarterback, Eric Crouch, will serve as the color-analyst. Rashan Ali will work as the sideline reporter.
