GOLDEN BEARS FALL TO WEST GEORGIA, 26-0

Box Score FAIRFIELD, AL -- Miles College fell to the University of West Georgia on Saturday evening by score a of 26-0 in front of 5,127 fans at Sloan-Alumni Stadium.

The Golden Bears fall to 1-1 while the Wolves improve to 2-0.

West Georgia capatalized on two early Miles College turnovers turning them into 14 first quarter points on an eight yard TD pass from Dallas Dickey to Beau Dugan for the first score, and a two yard plunge by Seth Hinsley capping an 11-play, 80 yard drive.

UWG added a 25 yard field goal by Hunter Heck before the half giving the Wolves a 17-0 halftime lead.

Both teams came out of the locker rooms playing strong defense and held each other scoreless in the third quarter. Early in the fourth quarter West Georgia running back, Brandon Lucas, scored from one yard out extending the Wolves lead to 24-0. On the ensuing possession Wolves defensive lineman, Bobby Liggins, sacked Miles quarterback Demetric Price in the endzone for a safety closing the scoring and giving UWG the final 26-0 win.

Price struggled being sacked four times while completing only 7 of 23 passes for 121 yards and one interception. After rushing for a career-high 212 yards last week versus Shaw, Jonathan Clark was held to only 44 yards on seven carries. Earnest Bell led the Golden Bears in receiving with four catches for 100 yards.

Defensively MC was led by Micheal Mitchell who finished with a game-high 10 tackles (6 solo), while safety Joe Beckham totaled four tackles, one interception and one pass break-up.

West Georgia outgained Miles 321 to 244. Defensively UWG recorded five sacks to MC's three and forced three turnovers.

Miles College looks to get back on the winning track and will travel next weekend Sept. 20th to Hampton, Virginia, to take on FCS and MEAC conference member the Pirates of Hampton University. Kick-Off is set for 5 p.m. CT
