GOLDEN BEARS SEASON ENDS WITH TOUGH LOSS TO TUSKEGEE, 48-33

Box Score FAIRFIELD, AL – The Golden Bears 2014 football campaign ended with a disappointing loss against Tuskegee University, 48-33, ending Miles hopes at playing in the 2014 SIAC Football Championship.

Miles ends the season (6-4, 5-2 SIAC) while Tuskegee improved to (8-2, 7-0 SIAC) and advances to the 2014 SIAC Football Championship being played next Saturday, November 15, in Montgomery, Alabama at the Cramton Bowl.

Tuskegee got on the board first as Trevor Wylie connected on a 36 yard field goal giving the Golden Tigers the early 3-0 lead.

It didn't take long for Miles to respond as Demetric Price found Antonio Pitts in the back of the endzone on an 8-yard touchdown pass making the score 7-3.
TU closed the first quarter scoring when Wylie kicked his second field goal of the game cutting the MC lead to 7-6.

Nick Christianson extended the lead for the Golden Bears to 10-6 as he kicked a 31-yard field goal through the uprights.

On the next possession MC cornerback and Tuskegee transfer, Travis Lee, found pay dirt as he returned a 38 yard interception for the scored extending the lead to 17-6.

Tuskegee running back, Hoderick Lowe, cut the Miles lead after he raced up the left sideline for 43 touchdown run making the score 17-13.

Miles widened the scoring margin at the end of the second quarter when Tuskegee transfer, Xavier Bacon, plunged into the endzone from two yards out making the score 24-13 going into the locker rooms.

Christianson kicked his second field goal of the game this time from 42 yards extending the lead to 27-13.

On the ensuing kick-off Lowe added to his touchdown total as he returned it back 92-yards cutting into the Golden Bears lead and making the score 27-20.

Tuskegee full-back, Michael J. Thornton, closed out the third quarter scoring as he ran it up the middle into the endzone from 10 yards out cutting the lead to just one, 27-26 as Wylie's point after attempt was blocked.

The Golden Tigers continued to step on the gas as Lowe scored his third touchdown of the day this time a 48 yard touchdown run giving Tuskegee there first lead since the opening quarter, 34-27.

Miles College responded with just 4:19 remaning in the game as Price ran a naked bootleg in from seven yards out cutting the lead to 34-33 but Christianson's extra point attempt was blocked by Lee.

Thornton scored the last two touchdowns of the game one from 33 yards out and the other on a one yard plunge making the final score 48-33.
The Golden Bears were outgained in total yards (418-370) but had an advantage on the air (227-144).

Bacon led Miles offensively rushing for 95 yards and one touchdown while Price threw for 227 yards while completing 15-of-26 passes and one touchdown.

Defensively Braysean Jones continued ended his season in a very strong fashion finishing with 12 tackles (10 solo) and one sack including one forced fumble.
Miles College whom was ranked 9 in the most recent NCAA Super Region II poll will finish the season with a 6-4 record.
