Antonio Pitts Finished With Four Catches for 111 Yards and Two TD's
GOLDEN BEARS CELEBRATE HOMECOMING WITH 22-12 VICTORY OVER CENTRAL STATE
Box Score FAIRFIELD, AL - The Golden Bears celebrated homecoming in winning fashion as they defeated Central State University, 22-12, in front of a capacity crowd of 10,045 at Albert J. Sloan-Alumni Stadium Saturday evening.
Miles College improves to (3-3, 2-1 SIAC) while CSU drops to (1-5, 1-3 SIAC).
MC didnt waste any time getting on the board as senior wide receiver Antonio Pitts caught a 59-yard bomb on a post route from senior quarterback Demetric Price making the score 7-0, :43 seconds into the game.
Pitts was not done as he would haul in a 16-yard touchdown strike from Price later in the first quarter extending the lead to 14-0.
Miles kicker Jason Coste would provide all of the scoring in the second quarter as he connected on field goals of 31 and 46 yards giving MC the 20-0 lead at the half.
Central State finally got on the board in the third quarter when quarterback, Michael Wilson, connected with Chris Murray in the corner of the endzone for the touchdown. The ensuing point after attempt was blocked and returned by MC defensive back Jawaski Randle making the score 22-6.
CSU's Wilson would score the only points of the fourth quarter on a two-yard plunge making the final score 22-12.
Miles College was out-gained by CSU in total yards (287-258), and first downs 22-14.
Offensively MC was led by Pitts who finished with four catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns, while Denzel Veal carried the load on the ground rushing for 76 total yards.
Defensively the Golden Bears were led by Micheal Mitchell who finished with 11 total tackles while leading tackler, Rodrick Holloman, and Randle each finished with 10 tackles a piece.
Miles College returns to action next Saturday, October 18th, as they travel to Frankfort, KY to take on the Thorobreds of Kentucky State University. Kick-off is set for 12:30 CT.
