THE OPPONENT:  Benedict College is coming off a hard fought 33-30 lose to SIAC Eastern Division foe, Fort Valley State, last weekend.

THE SERIES:  In this battle between SIAC opponents Miles College leads the all-time series (12-10-0) dating all the way back to 1956.
   
A GOLDEN BEARS VICTORY OVER BC WOULD:  Snap a three game losing streak while also extending MC's winning streak versus Benedict to four games.

HOW THE GOLDEN BEARS RANK
Statistically the Golden Bears are off to a great start as MC has the #2 ranked offense averaging 367 yards per game while the defense has held its own ranked #3 in the SIAC allowing opponents only 305 yards per game. Miles rushing offense is second in the conference in rushing averaging 191.8 yards per game for a total of 767 yards.

COMING OUT PARTY
Sophomore runningback Jonathan Clark had a coming out party of sorts against Shaw University as he rushed for 212 yards on only 16 carries and a 73 yard TD run garnering Co-Offensive Player of the Week Honors in week one. After four weeks Clark leads the SIAC in total rushing yards (394) and yards per game (98.5).

DONT WORRY I GOT THIS
Junior linebacker Rodrick Holloman stepped in and started the first four games of the season for the injured SIAC Pre-Season Defensive Player of the Year, Julantate English. After four games Holloman ranks third in the conference averaging 9.0 tackles per game (36 Total) and named SIAC Defensive Player of the Week once (Week 1).

THATS A FIRST...
Tonights game against Benedict will be there first nationally televised broadcast in school history.  Last season the Golden Bears played on Bounce-TV twice, versus Kentucky State and the 2013 SIAC Football Championship against Albany State.

AND THE ALL-CONFERENCE GOES TO...
For the second consecutive year The Golden Bears were well represented on the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) pre-season all conference teams as voted by the coaches. Nine Miles College players were voted on the team highlighted by Terrance Owens, Aderius Hood, Delarius Webb,  Braysean Jones, Joe Beckham and Julantate English whom were selected first teamers.
 
SOME NEW FACES...
Golden Bears head coach Reginald Ruffin has added former NFL standout and Super Bowl Champion with the St. Louis Rams, Dexter McCleon, to coach the cornerbacks. Also joining the staff are former Tuskegee University wide receivers coach, Rodney Bivins, and former All-MAC kicker at Ball State, Brian Jackson.

SWEET HOME ALABAMA...
The 2014 Golden Bears roster includes 47 players from the great state of Alabama, and zero players from the Palmetto State, South Carolina.

NEXT OPPONENT...
The Golden Bears will host Central State University next Saturday, October 11 at 4 p.m. CT for Homecoming 2014.
