LADY BEARS FALL 71-58 TO KENTUCKY STATE

Courtney English grabbed her 18th double-double of the season as she led the Miles College Lady Bears (6-16; 2-10) basketball team in scoring with a game-high 22 points and game-high 16 rebounds while dropping a conference game 71-59 to Kentucky State University on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Knox-Windham Gym.
The Lady Thorobreds led the Lady Bears 32-20 at halftime, as junior point guard
Enria Samuels (Marietta, GA) scored 11 for Miles and Sharnita Lloyd had 11 points for Kentucky State.
English scored on 7-of-17 shots from the field, 8-of-11 free throws, had one assist, three steals and blocked six shots. Samuels ended with 14 points and five rebounds and freshman center
Alease Allen (Jonesboro, GA) grabbed seven boards and five points.
Kentucky State had three players to score in double figures with Lloyd leading the way with 17 points and Jasmine Davis and Brielle Newton pumping in 12 points each.
Miles made 33.3 percent (19-of-57) of their shots from the floor, 22.2 percent (2-of-9) in threes and 19-of-29 (65.5 percent) in free throws. Kentucky State went 25-of-71 (35.2 percent) from the field and 20-of-28 (71.4 percent) at the foul line.
Kentucky State edged Miles by one (47-46) in rebounds while forcing Miles into 25 turnovers to their 12. Miles only lead came at the 16:30 mark of five points in the first half and Lady Thorobreds by 15 in the second half with 16:15 remaining. Both teams made 32 points in the paint, with Kentucky State gaining the edge off turnover points 27-11 and 45-23 points from bench play.
