MILES LADY BEARS LOSE TO TUSKEGEE

Box Score BIRMINGHAM, AL  (January 31, 2013) – The Miles College Lady Bears (6-13; 2-7) basketball team lose 48-42 on Thursday night, January 31 to the Lady Tigers of Tuskegee University (13-6; 10-0) at Fair-Park Arena.

Senior power forward Courtney English led the Lady Bears in scoring with a game-high 20 points and 9 rebounds. English hit 7-of-17 shots from the floor, drained 6-of-14 free throws and had 4 steals. Senior center Ra'Shawne Cox (Kennesaw, GA) had her best night of the season grabbing a game-high 14 boards.

Kajuanna Rivers led Tuskegee with 10 points and Nnenne Eze had 10 rebounds.

Miles shot just 25%  (12-of-48) from the field and 51.4% (18-of-35) at the foul line, while Tuskegee did just a little better from the floor hitting 26.3% (15-of-57) and went 16-of-25 (64%) at the free throw line.

Miles only lead can at the 10:40 mark in the first half by 7 points and Tuskegee picked up its largest lead of 10 points with 12:01 left in the second half. Miles out scored Tuskegee 20-18 in the paint, but Tuskegee scored 12 points to Miles 8 off turnovers and got 19 more points to two from Miles bench.

Next Game: Miles will travel to Tuscaloosa, AL to play Stillman College at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 2.
