FOURTH QUARTER COMEBACK PROPELS GOLDEN BEARS TO 31-30 VICTORY OVER STILLMAN COLLEGE

Box Score TUSCALOOSA, AL – The Golden Bears scored 21 fourth quarter points en route to a 31-30 come-from-behind victory against western division foe Stillman College on Saturday night.

Miles College improves to (5-3, 3-1 SIAC West) while the Tigers drop to (5-4, 2-3 SIAC West).

Junior quarterback, Demetrice Price, led three scoring drives in final quarter helping MC eliminate a 30-10 deficit. Price got the comeback started leading the Golden Bears down the field on a six-play 73-yard touchdown drive that took only 1:35, capped off with a three-yard plunge by sophomore running back Emmett Terry closing the gap to 30-17. Backed up into their own seven yard line, Price helped put Miles on the board again with a 14-play 93-yard drive by finding senior wide-receiver, Lonnie Outlaw, in the endzone for a 23 yard touchdown pass cutting the lead to 30-24. With only 1:32 remaining in the game, Price again did the improbably leading the Golden Bears down the field 76-yards connecting with junior wide-receiver Antonio Pitts down the seam on a 23-yard touchdown pass tying the game at 30-30 with only :18 remaining. Freshman kicker, Jason Coste, would cap the comeback effort, connecting on the point-after-attempt giving Miles College the 31-30 victory.

Miles finished the game with 408 yards (331 passing, 77 rushing) of total offense to Stillman's 337 (153 passing, 184 rushing).

Price led the offense finishing 23-of-42 for 270 yards (215 in the 4th quarter) and two touchdowns. Terry led the MC ground attack with 42 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Pitts finished with a game-high 10 catches for 100 yards and a touchdown while Outlaw ended up with seven catches for 78 yards and a touchdown. Redshirt-Freshman, Earnest Bell, chipped in with six catches for 91 yards, while Denzel Veal also had 41 yards on the ground.

Coste led the special teams connecting on a 29-yard field goal in the first quarter while also being a perfect 3-for-3 on point-after-attempts.

Defensively the Golden Bears were led by junior linebackers Michael Mitchell (11 tackles, one TFL) and Julantate English (9 tackles) while sophomore defensive end, Braysean Jones, finished with (5 tackles, one sack, and 2.5 TFL).

The victory sets up an SIAC Western Division Championship game next Saturday, November 9th, against Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL with the winner advancing to the 2013 SIAC Football Championship game. Kick-Off is set for 1 p.m. CT.
