GOLDEN BEARS GOLF COMPETE AT BLACK HALL OF FAME GOLF INVITATIONAL
ATLANTA, GA -- Miles College golf team competed in it's very first event at the Black Hall of Fame Intercollegiate Golf Invitational. The Golden Bears competed with only 4 players missing a 5th player putting the young team behind at a disadvantage.
MC shot a first day team score of 360 putting them next to last place. Led by first year head coach
Leonard Smoot, Miles College regrouped and shot 17 strokes better than the previous day shooting 343, scoring better than half the field on the second day. Smoot said, "I am very proud of the team, they have bought into the P.M.A. system which means Positive Mental Attitude the teams motto."
Jacob McCurry was in contention for winning the tournament in Division II shooting scores of 79 and 77 respectfully for 156 but came up short after missing several birdies on the second day.Â
Khaliq Dansby shot 87 and 81 while
Trevor Barber had a bad 1st day shooting 100 but came back strong with 88 and
Trey Reynolds closed with 94 and 97 respectfully.
Coach Smoot believes that his team will be ready to go when the spring season kicks off. "For a new program we are on the right track and I am excited for our institution in the coming years", said Smoot.
