Box Score FAIRFIELD, AL – Senior power forward Courtney English (Atmore, AL) racked up her 11th double-double while leading the Miles College Lady Bears basketball team to their first conference win over the Lady Magicians of LeMoyne-Owen College by a score of 48-41 Monday, January 21 at Knox-Windham Gym.

Miles overall record improves to 5-10 and 1-5 in the SIAC and LeMoyne-Owen fell to 2-15 overall and 0-6 in the conference.

MC led LeMoyne-Owen going into halftime 21-16, as junior point guard Enria Samuels (Marietta, GA) had 11 points and English grabbed 5 rebounds. LOC's Nicole Swick had 11 boards and Laurien Williamson scored 6 points.

The Lady Bears shot just 27.4% (17-of-62) from the floor for the game, hit 2-of-6 (33.3%) 3-pointers and went 12-of-19 (63.2%) at the free throw line. The Lady Magicians hit 31.3% (15-of-48) of shots on the floor and 37.5% (6-of-16) of its shots on the line.

English led MC with game-highs in scoring and rebounding, as she scored 21 points and grabbed 20 rebounds. She scored on 9-of-20 shots from the field, making 3-of-6 free throws, blocking one shot and five steals. Samuels added 11 points.

Swick led LOC with 18 rebounds and 11 points and Williamson added 11 more points.

Next Game: MC will travel to Atlanta, GA on Wednesday, January 23 to play Clark Atlanta University at 5:30 p.m.
