WEST ALABAMA TAKE TWO SOFTBALL GAMES FROM LADY BEARS
FAIRFIELD, AL – The Miles College (2-9) Lady Bears softball team fell twice to the University of West Alabama this afternoon 9-12 and 1-13 at George Ward Park.
Amanda Talley (1-3) went seven innings for the Lady Bears, giving up 12 runs (11 earned) on 15 hits and striking out eight. Jessica Brock got the win for West Alabama in four innings, allowing three earned runs, on four hits and six strike outs. Hannah Griffin gave up six runs (3 earned) in 2.1 innings on five hits.
Miles scored three runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and two in the seventh inning, while West Alabama score in the first (3), one in the second, seven in the third and one in the six.
Tiffany Roberts led the Lady Bears as she went 2-for-4 at the plate, scored three runs and drove in another two and stole two bases.
Terri Roberts and Talley were 2-for-4 and Roberts scored twice and Talley once with two RBI's. Terri had three stolen bases.
Katie Haisten and
Kayla Cox had one hit each.
In game two,
Heather Mitchell (0-4) had a one run lead through five inning, then the wheels fell off as she gave up 13 runs (11 earned) on 12 hits. Skinner Kristen (2-1) picked up the win for West Alabama.
Haisten scored the only run for Miles in the first inning, with
Kayla Cox driving Haisten and going 1-for-2 at the plate.
Tiffany Roberts went 2-for-3 and
Terri Roberts 1-for-3 on the day.
The Lady Bears will travel to Frankfort, KY this weekend to open four game conference series with Kentucky State University.
