MILES LADY BEARS WIN 5-OF-6 GAMES IN SIAC CROSSOVER TOURNAMENT

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 FAIRFIELD, AL – Miles College Lady Bears (9-15; 7-4) won 5-of-6 SIAC Crossover game this weekend in Jasper, Alabama, as all 12 SIAC softball teams converged on Jasper for the 2012 SIAC Crossover conference match-up.

Miles lost the first game to Albany State University (7-9), but won the remaining games over Clark Atlanta University (14-4), Claflin University (8-3), Fort Valley State University (9-4), Benedict College (1-0) and Paine College (10-1).

Tiffany Roberts led the Lady Bears at the plate with 8-of-24, 15 RBI's, ten runs scored, three home runs (one grand slam) and nine stolen bases, as well as being named SIAC Western Division Crossover MVP, while her twin sister Terri Roberts went 8-of-21 at the plate, three RBI's , 11 runs scored and 12 stolen bases. Katie Haisten was 6-for-22 with seven RBI's and six runs scored and Brianna Barrentine 8-of-20 in the series, four RBI's , two runs scored and Kendra O'Neal with two RBI's and going 8-of-17 at the plate, seven runs scored and six stolen bases. Amanda Talley had six RBI's, two runs scored and 5-of 18 at the plate.

Heather Mitchell (2-8) went 8 inning in the Albany State game for the loss, giving up four earned runs, two base on balls and four strike outs, and picked up her first win of the season in the Fort Valley State game while going 6.2 innings giving up four earned runs on eight hit, one strike out and a shout out (1-0) game with Benedict College. Kayla Bowmaster (4-2) had wins over Clark Atlanta University, Claflin University and Paine College. Bowmaster struck out three batters and gave up one earned run in the Clark Atlanta game, three earned run s and five strike outs in the Claflin game and one earned run to the Paine College game.

The Lady Bears next game is Wednesday, March 21 at George Ward Park as they host the University of Alabama Huntsville in a doubleheader with game one starting at 1 p.m.
