MILES LADY BEARS SPLIT DOBULEHEADER WITH KENTUCKY STATE

FAIRFIELD, AL – The Miles College Lady Bears (3-10; 1-1) softball team split a doubleheader with Kentucky State University on Saturday, as they open conference play with Miles taking game one 9-7 and Kentucky State winning game two 8-6 in eight innings at Frankfort, KY.

In game one, Brianna Barrentine led the Lady Bears with a 2-for-2 day at the plate, driving in three RBI's, scored two runs and a homerun, while Terri Roberts was 2-for-4 with two RBI's, one run scored and a homer. Kayla Cox had a 2-for-4 day with two RBI's; Katie Haisten went 2-for-3 and scored two times. Tiffany Roberts, Kendra O'Neal and Stephnie Woods had one hit apace.

Amanda Talley (2-3) picked up the win with a seven inning outing as she allowed seven runs (five earned) off 13 hits. Burrell (1-3) got the loss for Kentucky State with nine runs scored (eight earned) on 11 hits.

In game two, Heather Mitchell (0-5) went the distance for the loss as she gave up eight run (seven earned) and ten hits and Garay (2-4) picked up the victory for Kentucky State with six runs given up and nine hits.

Katie Haisten and Takieta Roberts drove in three and two RBI's apace, while going 1-for-4. Brianna Barrentine was 2-for-2, Tiffany Roberts and Brittney Mitchell went 2-for-4. Kayla Cox and Terri Roberts each had one hit.

The Lady Bears will play Kentucky State again on Sunday a doubleheader in Frankfort, KY with game time set for 1 p.m.
