MILES FOOTBALL EARN BERTH IN FIRST ROUND OF THE NCAA DIVISION II PLAYOFFS
FAIRFIELD, AL - The Miles College Football Team for the first time in school history has earned a berth to postseason play. The NCAA announced the field of teams that would compete in the NCAA Division II Football Playoffs. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 noon.
Miles (8-2), No. 5 seed in Super Region No. 2, will travel to No. 4 seed University of West Alabama (8-3) next Saturday, November 17, at Tiger Stadium in the First Round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs.
This will be the third meeting between the two teams, since Miles 14-7 win in 2000 and a 35-12 loss in 2001. The series is tied one game each. The winner of the contest will face the No. 1 seed Valdosta State (8-2) in the second round of the playoffs on Saturday, November 24, in Valdosta, GA. in a 12 noon kickoff.
Miles had won eight straight games before losing its final regular season game to Tuskegee University by a 27-17 score.
The NCAA Division II National Championship game will take place on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Braly Municipal Stadium in Florence, Al.
