MILES LADY BEARS SQUEEZE OUT WIN OVER FIRST PLACE BENEDICT
FAIRFIELD, AL – The Miles College Lady Bears (8-6; 6-4) basketball team defeated the Lady Tigers of Benedict College (8-3; 7-2) 48-44 last night at Knox-Windham Gym as junior point guard
Candance Beverly (Birmingham, AL) scored a game-high 13 points.
Benedict led at the half 20-14, but Miles out-scored Benedict in the second half 34-24.
Beverly added five rebounds, three assist and five steals, while hitting 3-of-4 free throws. Senior forward
Sammeika Thomas (Birmingham, AL) and junior forward
Courtney English (Atmore, AL) scored 10 points each and Thomas and English grabbed 8 and 7 boards apace.
Brittany Jackson led Benedict with 12 points and Santera Grooms had a double-double 14 rebounds and 10 points.
The Lady Bears will be back in action on Saturday, January 21 at Knox-Windham Gymnasium at 1:00 p.m. as they play the Lady Lions of Paine College.
