LADY BEARS FALL TO ALBANY STATE IN FRIST ROUND
COLUMBUS, GA – The Miles College Lady Bears softball team drop to loser's bracket after dropping first round game to Albany State University 10-9 in the SIAC Softball Tournament Thursday morning, April 21 at the R. G. Jones Field.
Errors and base running errors caused the Lady Bears a victory. Miles scored runs in the third (2), fifth (2), six (1) and seventh (4), while Albany State got runs in the second (3), fourth (3) and seventh (4).
Senior's
DeAndrea Dawson and
Kendra Ward led the Lady Bears in hitting by going 3-for-4 at the plate. Dawson scored three times and Ward once while adding a doubled. Senior
Jo Amy Rollo had two hits, scored and doubled, senior Valeria Pena went 2-for-4 with a run scored, two RBI's and homered and sophomore
Terri Roberts homered and drove in three runs, scored twice and stole a base.
Junior
Kayla Bowmaster (13-13) picked up the loss as she went four innings, giving up eight hits, five runs (1 earned run) and one strikeout. Junior starting pitcher
Heather Mitchell threw three innings, with seven hits, five runs (3 earned runs) and a strikeout.
Macy Mager got the win for Albany State.
The Lady Bears will play Stillman College at 8 a.m. in the second round on Friday, April 22.
