MILES OPEN SIAC SOFTBALL CROSSOVER TOURNAMENT WITH TWO WINS
JASPER, AL – Junior pitcher
Heather Mitchell for the Miles College Lady Bears (8-14; 6-2) softball team threw a two hitter in game one of the SIAC Softball Crossover Tournament against the Lady Wildcats of Fort Valley State University by a score of 6-3 and 7-4 in the night cap today, March 17 at Jasper Memorial Softball Complex
In Game one, the Lady Bears had several players to position themselves in the stats with one hit, but senior
Valerie Pena and sophomore
Kayla Gable-Bush led the team with two RBI's apice in the win. Twin sister's
Tiffany Roberts and
Terri Roberts scored two runs each, while senior
Kendra Ward had one RBI and one score.
Mitchell (1-3) picked up her first win while pitching a complete seven innings and throwing a two hitter, with no earned runs and two strike outs.
Game two,
Tiffany Roberts had an outstanding game with a 3-for-4 day at the plate; two homers, five RBI's, scored twice and stole one base. Terri and junior
DeAndrea Dawson went 2-for-4 and scored twice, while Ward, Pena and senior
Jo Amy Rollo had one hit each.
Junior
Kayla Bowmaster (3-4) got the win with a completed game and on 12 hits, four earned runs and eight strike outs.
The Lady Bears will play Albany State University at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning and Clark Atlanta University at 4 p.m. at Jasper Memorial Softball Complex.
