THOMAS SCORED 22 POINTS IN WIN OVER ALBANY STATE 64-59

FAIRFIELD, AL – Senior forward Sammeika Thomas (Birmingham, AL) scored her first double-double of the season with 22 points and 15 rebounds for the Miles College Lady Bears (4-4; 2-2) basketball team  as they defeated the Albany State University (1-7; 1-3) Lady Rams 64-59 Saturday night at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.

Senior guard Toccara Charles (Childersburg, AL) led the Lady Bears at halftime in scoring with eight points, as the team went in down 24-25. The Lady Bears out rebound Albany State 23-20, while hitting 30.3 percent of their shots from the floor and Albany State hitting 36 percent.

In the second half, Miles shot 56.7 percent from the field and Albany State 25.7 percent. The Lady Bears out rebounded the Lady Rams 45-42.

Thomas scored on 9-of-15 shots from the floor, 4-of-7 free throws, had a team-high five assist and blocked four shots. Senior forward Kamissah Shaw (Madison, TN) and freshman guard Ashley McAdory (Irondale, AL) added nine points apiece. Charles chipped in eight points and junior guard Monique King Birmingham, AL) grabbed seven boards and three assist.

Kourtney Alexander led Albany State with 17 points and Breanna Fields pulled down seven rebounds.
