CHARLES SCORES 25 IN WIN OVER LEMOYNE-OWEN

Toccara Charles (Childersburg, AL) scored a career-high 25 points and hit 6-of-11 shots from three point land for the Miles College Lady Bears (3-4; 1-2) basketball team as they beat the Lady Magicians of LeMoyne-Owen College (3-3; 2-2) 79-61 on Thursday night at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
Miles led LeMoyne-Owen by five points (30-25) at halftime. The Lady Bears hit 41.4 percent of its shots from the floor in the half and LeMoyne-Owen hit 39.3 percent. In the second half, Miles shot 56.7 percent from the field to the Lady Magicians 34.3 percent.
The Lady Bears went 14-of-26 at the line and LeMoyne-Owen hit 12-of-18 shots. The Lady Magicians were out rebounded 51-31, while forcing the Lady Bears to 30 turnovers.
Charles was 9-of-15 from the field and senior forward
Sammeika Thomas (Birmingham, AL) and junior forward
Courtney English (Atmore, AL) added 12 points each. Thomas grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and hit 4-of-6 free throws, while English had eight boards and four assist.
Cheneka Anderson and Jasmine Massey led the Lady Magicians in scoring with 12 points apiece and Karen Barr added 10 more rebounds and nine points.
