MILES LADY BEARS FALL TO FORT VALLEY STATE

FAIRFIELD, AL. – The Miles College Lady Bears basketball team fell to Fort Valley State University Lady Wildcats 52-74 Tuesday night at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.

Senior center Kamissah Shaw (Madison, TN) led the Lady Bears (2-4; 0-2) in scoring with nine points and senior point guard Ashlee Barley (Columbus, GA) scored eight points. Senior forward Sammeika Thomas (Birmingham, AL) grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds and scored six points. Senior guards Toccara Charles (Childersburg, AL) and Charlesia Norman (Morrow, GA) added six points each.

Miles went to half down 11-29 and finished the second half at 41-45. The Lady Bears out rebounded Fort Valley State 45-37, while going 19-of-37 from the free throw line as Fort Valley State's hit 15-of-28 free throws.

Jayne Gilbert led the Lady Wildcats (5-2; 4-0) with 12 points and Jasmine Birdsong had seven rebounds.

The Lady Bears will be back in action on Thursday night as they take on the Lady Magicians of LeMoyne-Owen College in a 5:30 contest at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
