THOMAS SCORE 19 IN WIN OVER LADY LIONS
FAIRFIELD, AL – Junior forward
Sammeika Thomas scored a game-high 19 points to lead three other Lady Bears (3-3: 1-3) in double-figures, as Miles defeats the Lady Lions of Paine College (0-7; 0-5) 86-56 Monday night at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
Miles went to halftime up 51-27, hitting 19-of-41 shots from the floor and 87.5 percent (7-of-8) at the free throw line, while Paine hit 11-of-26 shots from the field.
The Lady Bears shot 43.1 percent (31-of-72) from the field and made 17-of-21 (81.0) percent of their free throws for the game. Paine hit 36.5 percent from the floor and 54.2 percent from the line.
Thomas grabbed 5 rebounds, 4 assist, and 3 steals and blocked 3 shots to go with her 19 points, while junior guard
Toccara Charles grabbed a team-high 9 rebounds and 13 points. Junior guard's
Ashlee Barley and
Charlesia Norman had 12 points apiece. Junior forward
Kamissah Shaw pulled down 8 boards and senior point guard
Ashley Orphey dished out a game-high 6 assist and scored 6 points.
Shanee' Bulter scored 13 points for the Lady Lions and Michele Brown had 9 rebounds.
The Lady Bears will travel to Tuskegee, AL on Monday, January 3 to play the Lady Tigers of Tuskegee University at 5:30.
