LADY BEARS DROP THIRD CONFERENCE GAME TO STILLMAN
TUSCALOOSA, AL – The Miles College women's basketball team drop heartbreaker to the Lady Tigers of Stillman College 65-68 Thursday night at Stillman gym.
Miles overall record fell to 1-3 and 0-3 in the SIAC.
The Lady Bears went to halftime up 36-31 off the 14 points put up by senior guard
Ashley Orphey, as she went 7-of-8 at the foul line, followed by junior forward
Sammeika Thomas 10 points. Thomas and Kamissah Shaw had 7 and 6 rebounds apice.
Miles hit 37.9 % (11-of-29) from the floor and 81.3 % (13-of-16) in free throws. Stillman shot 32.3 % from the field and 55.6 % at the foul line.
The Lady Bears out-rebound Stillman 29-13, but had 12 turnovers to Stillman 9.
For the game, Miles hit 20-of-55 (36.4 %) shots and shot 72.4 % (21-of-29) at the line and 4-for-15 in three's. Stillman went 19-of-62 (30.6 %) from the field and 28-of-44 (63.6 %) at the foul line.
The Lady Bears out-rebound Stillman 50-34 and 25 turnovers to 14 for Stillman.
Orphey led the Lady Bears in scoring with a game high 21 points, hit 10-of-11 free throws and had 5 rebounds. Thomas had a double-double with 16 points and game high 14 rebounds, 0ne block and went 6-of-7 from the free throw line.
Toccara Charles added 8 points and Kamissah Shaw grabbed 9 boards.
Jamila McKinnis led Stillman with a double-double 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The Lady Bears will be in action on Saturday, December 4 in Selma, Alabama as they play Concordia-Selma College Hornets.
